A Walkers Tale

Today was my second consecutive day of walking - having walked from Dover to Folkestone on the previous day - and would be the day where I would complete the entirety of the North Downs Way  (including both of the alternate routes between Boughton Lees and Dover).

Earlier in the year, I had set out on two separate walks along the North Downs Way - heading out in spring to walk one half of the North Downs Way from Rochester to Dover  (over three days), and again in summer to walk the other half from Rochester round to Farnham  (over four days).

This was the final day of walking to complete both the Canterbury version of the North Downs Way  and a slightly shorter walk from Rochester to Farnham. Today I had swapped out my Dad's company for my Mum's - and would be heading out from Guildford to Farnham. On the previous day I had walked from Merstham to Guildford .

Today is the third of four days spent walking along the North Downs Way - and today I am walking from Merstham to Guildford, as part of a longer walk from Rochester to Farnham. On the previous day I had walked from  Otford to Merstham .

This walk is the second of a four days walk along the North Downs Way , starting in Rochester and finishing up in Farnham. On the previous day I had walked from  Rochester to Otford  and today I am walking from Otford to Merstham.

Earlier in the year I had begun to walk the North Downs Way - and had walked from Rochester to Dover , via the Canterbury loop. Now I am back to walk the western end of the trail, starting at the same point in Rochester - and then walking round to Farnham to complete the length of the trail.

This walk marks the last of a three day walk along the eastern section of the North Downs Way , walking from Canterbury to Dover. On the previous day I had walked from Harrietsham to Canterbury . Having stayed overnight in Canterbury, I was staying a skip and a jump away from the route of the North Downs Way  - and so I was able to immediately reunite with the path after leaving my hotel.

Today is the second of three days spent walking from Rochester to Dover via Canterbury along the North Downs Way - and day's walk is from Harrietsham to Canterbury. On the previous day I had walked from  Rochester to Harrietsham .

Having grown up in Guildford, I ended up doing a lot of walking along the Surrey Hills in my youth - and quite a bit of this walking would be along the route of the North Downs Way .  But despite this being a National Trail that I know really well, I haven't actually walked very much of it - having only walked along the section between the River Wey in Guildford and Reigate Hill. And even on this section, there are gaps in the trail which I have never walked before.
