Pennine Way - Hawes to Horton-in-Ribblesdale (★★★★☆)

Today we are back on the Pennine Way , and having walked an excellent segment of this trail between Bowes and Hawes on the previous day, we are today continuing on to Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

Pennine Way - Bowes to Hawes (★★★★★)

Today I am back ticking off sections of the Pennine Way , and am taking on a fairly long stretch of the trail, between Bowes and Hawes - with the plan being to continue on to Horton-in-Ribblesdale on the following day (an easier day of walking)

Pennine Bridleway - Kirkby Stephen to Ribblehead (★★★★★)

The Pennine Bridleway is a trail I have bumped into a few time on other walks - but today is the first time I'm heading out specifically to walk a section of this trail. The last of this trail was only completed in 2012, and it owes a lot to a literal Lady by the name of Mary Towneley - who launched the idea of a Pennine Bridleway (and highlighted the general need for improved bridleways) back in 1986, when she rode 250 miles from Corbridge to Ashbourne, along with two friends.

Dales High Way - Ribblehead to Settle (★★★★★)

Yesterday I had walked the Pennine Way from Middleton-in-Teesdale to Appleby-in-Westmorland , and had opted to stay over in Carlisle after that walk. This left me well placed to head into the Yorkshire Dales today, and so the plan today is to head down the Carlisle-Settle railway to Ribblehead, after which I plan to walk along the Dales High Way to Settle.

Dales High Way - Skipton to Settle (★★★★★)

Today the plan is to walk from Skipton to Settle along the Dales High Way - which follows a very similar route to a walk I have already done, along the Pennine Way from  Gargrave to Horton-in-Ribblesdale .

Dales Way - Cowgill to Burneside (★★★★★)

The Dales Way is a path I stumbled upon while doing walks near Ribblehead - and I have previous used a small part of it on a walk from Dent to Horton-in-Ribblesdale . After finishing that walk I was inspired to look up this trail in more detail and found that it not only tracks through the southern end of the Yorkshire Dales - but also cuts across to the Lake District.

Yorkshire Dales - Dent to Horton-in-Ribblesdale (★★★★★)

Earlier in the year I was walking a section of the Pennine Way  between  Gargrave to Horton-in-Ribblesdale  that took me into Ribblesdale for the first time. Having really enjoyed that walk, today I am back in the area, to do a bit of a composite walk, starting from Dent train station. From here I will walk the Dales Way to the edge of Dent village, and then swap to the Dales High Way  round to Ribblehead Viaduct.

Pennine Way - Gargrave to Horton-in-Ribblesdale (★★★★★)

This is the second of two days walking the Pennine Way , having walked from Hebden Bridge to Gargrave on the previous day. Today the plan is to walk from Gargrave (where I have stayed overnight), up to Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Making an early start on the way out of Gargrave, I head up through town, and then head up on a minor road, heading up north, passing several dog walkers on the way.
